SECRETARY'S NOTES

Local 28 minutes

May 3, 2013

 

Meeting was held at Pulaski County Shrine Club on May 3, 2013 at 7:12 PM, Not all officers were present C.C. Rep and Product line were missing.

 

President, Taz, led the local in the Pledge of Allegiance and a moment of silence was observed for our Brothers and Sisters past and present.

 REPORTS: 

Secretary:  John Pool made motion to accept minutes as they were put out in email and web, Phil McCombs seconded all in favor.

 

Treasurer:        Local:   $ 2,869.31

                         Slush:   $ 1,026.30

              

Product Line:   Not present but Taz mentioned that Splash is still working on setting up the website so product can be purchased.

 

Safety:  Spuds put out that April had the rain now May is supposed to bring on the flowers. Make sure to glance but make sure to focus forward. Speeding is a contributing factor so please slow down and enjoy the ride. Alcohol sure taste great but we are all adults lets please be responsible, and as always keep a look out for critters and cagers.

 

Membership:  Glitter announced Birthdays and anniversaries. There are currently 214 members.

We had 58 members present at the meeting with 4 guest.

 CC:   Was not present is on leave for family issues, but Taz put out that there is a CC Meeting May 5, 2013 and Shena Flick will be attending in Steve’s place.

VP: Not much to put out this month, but American Legion Riders will have a poker run May 19th starts at the American Legion in St. Robert and ends there regirstration starts at 11:00am.

 

President:  For a change Taz didn’t have a lot to say!

 

OLD BUSINESS:

*Local 28’s Member Award and plaque for past Presidents are being made and will be hung at the Shrine Club.

*April 6 was Skyline’s Open House and seemed to be a success. Thanks to everyone who came out to help the both. We also managed to get every Mayor’s signature except Richlands for the motorcycle procolamation.

*April 13 was Roadside cleanup which was a success and some very odd things were found, Next one will be June 29th.

*April 30 was Motorcycle Awareness Rally in Jefferson City about 50 bikes turned up which was a great turn out for being a Tuesday. Better news for that Day Helmet Bill HouseBill555 was passed and is on the way to the senate!

 

NEW BUSINESS:

* IF you are still not receiving text and want to receive them for upcoming rides or events please text Taz with your name so he can add you to the list.

*May 12-Mothers Day Ladies if you want to ride get together to set up something and if you do let Taz know and he will push it out in text, email, and facebook.

*MAY 24-27 MID AMERICA FREEDOM RALLY!!!! Woohoo it is that time of year again!!! Remember you can start setting up Thursday May 23rd at 1200!

* June 8th Larry and Vivian will be getting married and everyone is invited to attend in celebrating with them. At Waynesville Park 1:00pm.

*June 15 USO Support Ride starts in Lebanon Ozark Harley Davidson and ends at the USO Building on Fort Leonard Wood.

CC Meeting Notes

13 Jan CC Meeting Notesa.      CC is soliciting Local ideas to raise money for PAC fund.  Need a list of recommended local media outlets from our area.  Send email and phone numbers to Steve. b.      Rider Training Coordinator vehicle expenses.  A motion was passed to reimburse an annual amount of no more than $3K to offset the cost of operating a privately owned truck to pull the FORR trailer and bikes to training events.  c.      By law Proposal (Para 2.6C)(formerly “toxic member policy”) passed as written.  This better clarifies the procedures for suspension/removing a member of FORR.  This was written by our Local 28 President and accepted by the CC.d.      Voting Policy for CC members passed as amended; any local 3 months out of compliance w/ financial records will have votes suspended until they are current.e.      Insurance/Events.  Policy amended that requires Insurance certificates be submitted and approved prior to advertising for an event.  Local 28 voted against changing this requirement.  Policy was amended to state that advertising may be done prior to obtaining insurance certificate provided that insurance is applied for within 30 days.  Local 28 will revisit this next CC to ensure that there are checks and balances written into FORR policies specifically stating that proof be provided prior to event start date.   f.       Rider Ed: There are used riders training bikes for sale (200-250cc).  Contact RE if interested.g.      Cycle Awareness:  Coordinator is available to provide awareness presentation at all levels including schools.  Presentation is available for local use upon request.  We will get a copy of this presentation.h.      Product Line:  A vote was passed to send 200 calendars to Legislators.i.       Webmaster:  Current Webmaster resigns.  Position is open and unfilled.  “New” rally website is MO-RALLY.COM.  Use of FORR.NET/social was brought up as an alternative to the previous use of Facebook for controversial or private issues to FORR.  Its use is encouraged to promote discussions that the FORR general membership might otherwise not want to engage outside of FORR.  FORR website is also able to promote private website sponsorship for $60.00 a month.j.       Newsletter:  Looking for past issues of Freedom Press, 87-88 timeframe.  Submit to secretary.k.      Membership:  Current funds show an increase in renewals prior to expiration.  Numbers are down overall.  Please insure checks are signed prior to submission.l.       Legislative:  FORR has NO lobbyist at this time.  Matt Hill terminated after he requested an increase in pay that was not sustainable by our current budget.  Current budget is $1050 mo. maximum.  A lengthy discussion took place on nominating Katherine for this position.  The motion was tabled until another Locals potential Lobbyist was contacted.  Another motion was passed giving the CC Chair authority to make the decision within 30 days.  Katherine made it clear that she would accept this additional responsibility and the CC membership was in concurrence (save one local) that she should have this position.  Furthermore, a $13K cap was agreed on to fund the Lobbyist position.  Another motion was passed to allow for $1500 (annually) of this 13K for access to “GovWatch”, a bill tracking tool used by lobbyists.m.    Capitol Visits:  Ensure that we a representing a positive image.  If you make the trip please make sure you sign the book!  Be polite wear some leather!   Dates will be published.

The 2013 Mid-Missouri Motorcycle Rally planning committee is currently holding meetings to plan for this event.  See Steve or Taz for monthly meeting information.  Local 28 participation is welcome.
